Automated Biogas Batch Fermentation System

Biogas is produced during the fermentation of organic substances in biogas plants. To determine the biogas yield from substrates (organic liquids and solids), a batch fermentation test according to VDI guidline 4630 and DIN 38414-8 is usually conducted. In this frequently manually performed examination, a high workload is required. To minimize personnel expenses, Offenburg University’s Biomass Working Group in cooperation with badenova (Freiburg) has developed an automated fermentation systemenglish

Thanks to the process control developed by the Biomass Working Group specialists, highly precise analyses are possible. The fermentation system has been stable for six years; it has 14 measuring stations (fermenting vessels) and a separate connection to the gas analyzer for additional manual gas analyses. The number of measuring stations can be adjusted according to customer requirements.
